Twitter does not require new users to provide a phone number when they sign up — and so a user who was banned, and decided to create a new account, could do so even if they had harassed users previously.
If you want to register on Twitter, you dont have to give them your phone number just yet. Check out how to create a Twitter account without using your phone number: Go to Twitters signup page. Click on Use Email Instead under Phone.
Go to “Account and Settings” on the left. This will take you to “Login Verification.” You will see an option to turn off login verification. This will make sure that Twitter will not confirm your additional information like phone number while logging in.
Note: You can have the same phone number associated with up to 10 Twitter accounts.
Most egregiously on Twitters part, you may also have a phone number in your account because Twitter made you put it there to prove youre not a spammer. When Twitter marks an account as a “bot,” it may require the account holder to provide a phone number to unlock and get back into their account.
To check your discoverability settings, head to the Privacy and safety section of your account settings, then scroll down a bit and select Discoverability and contacts—or just go to https://twitter.com/settings/contacts. 2. You want “Let people who have your phone number find you on Twitter” unchecked.
The duration of this enforcement action can range from 12 hours to 7 days, depending on the nature of the violation.
Theres no way for somebody to tell that it was you who reported them – but they will know that their tweet was investigated, even if no action is taken.
