Question: What is the legal age gap for relationships in Canada?

In Canada, the age of consent to sexual activity is 16. The “close in age” rule means that: 12- and 13-year-olds can be sexual with people who are no more than two years older than them. 14- and 15-year-olds can be sexual with people who are no more than five years older than them.

With the recent change to the criminal code of Canada, the age of consent for nonexploitative sexual activity is now 16 years. For example, a 15-year-old can consent to having sexual intercourse with a 20-year-old, but not with a 21-year-old.
