Automated matchmaking (AMM) is a StarCraft II battle.net feature, similar to the one in Warcraft III. Players play 5 qualifying matches and are then assigned a skill level, which determines the league and division they will be placed in. Skill levels will be reevaluated over time.
How does StarCraft matchmaking work?
The matchmaking system attempts to place you into matches at or near your skill level, after youve been initially evaluated by the 5 placement matches. It then maintains a few scores of your performance (based around wins/losses, and recent streak) and places you against players of a similar skill level.
How does MMR work in StarCraft 2?
Performance is measured via MMR rating, very much like the WoW Arena Matchmaking System. This rating decides which opponents a player will meet, and tries to quantify their skill level. The aim of the MMR is to rank players in such a way that they have a roughly 50% win ratio when paired against those of similar MMR.
How is MMR determined in sc2?
MMR is the skill rating in the ladder system. MMR represents a players strength more accurately than league, ladder points, adjusted points, or division rank. If player lost, then subtract 24 from his points change.
Is sc2 dead?
Yes. Very slowly though. Games without new content just bleed players until there is not enough left. We are lucky there is such a huge community still, but it will just grow smaller and smaller with each passing year.
